History

Founded by Marcus Lamb in 1997, Daystar Television is a TV network that brings religious (specifically Christian) programming to millions of television sets around the world. It all started in 1993, when Lamb and his Word of God Fellowship ministry bought a UHF station in Dallas, Texas. From there, he continued to grow the network, and on new years eve in 1997, officially launched Daystar Television Network. Since then, it has tripled in size, and its broadcast signal now reaches 200 countries and 670 million households globally. [4]

1) iPhone/ iPod Touch- Daystar television recently released an application that allows viewers to watch programming on these devices. [10]

2) Television- Daystar is carried by most cable and satellite television providers, including DirecTV, Dish Network, Verizon Fios, AT&T, Glory Stow, Time Warner Cable, and more. [11]

3) On your computer via the internet- Daystar streams their content live on their website, and also features an “On Demand” section where users can pick which clips/ episodes they want to watch. [12]

January 20th, 2012

Mike Huckabee appeared on Daystar Television Network’s popular show, ‘Joni.’ On the show, Huckabee and Joni Lamb, the host, fielded calls from Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum. He spoke about his views on the GOP candidates, and promoted his latest book, A Simple Government, and his new film “The gift of Life.” [14]

January 30th, 2012

Daystar Television Network presented a $10,000 gift last week to “Celebration” guest Tommy Bates for International Missions Outreach (IMO) to build a youth camp in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. Bates shared how the outreach is helping to build schools and hospitals in the heavily affected areas in Haiti. [15] 

 

February 2012 

Daystar TV has launched a live stream of its programming to all Apple iOS devices. The live stream has already been very popular on their website for several years. Viewers can now watch Daystar programming anywhere in the world. The launch corresponds with a redesign of daystar.com and the debut of their new mobile website. [16]

 

February 13th, 2012

The week long program “Marriage” returns to Daystar for a second year. The show centers around giving people advice on marriage and how to strengthen their marriages, and is hosted by Bishop T.D. Jakes. Marcus Lamb, Daystar’s president and founder, emphasizes the point that your marriage does not need to be in trouble for you to get something out of the program. It is there for those whose marriage is in trouble, as well as those whose marriage is great but are just looking for some tips on how to keep it there. Special guests also appear on the show, such as Jimmy Evans and Doug Weiss. [17]

February 20th, 2012 

Daystar Television Network has donated 10,000 dollars to Mercy Ministries in Nashville, Tennessee. The organization is a faith based organization dedicated to helping women overcome drug abuse, depression, eating disorders, and other desperate situations. [18]

 

Daystar has launched on Time Warner Cable in New York City- channel 187, greatly expanding their audience. [19]

March 13th, 2012 

Daystar Television has wrapped up one of the most successful Sharathon campaigns in the network’s history last week, as it accumulated a total number of 67, 270 pledges. The Sharathon funds the ministry side of Daystar, as well as other ministries across the globe. In recent years, Daystar has donated over 63 million dollars to other ministries. [20]

 

 

April 3rd, 2012

Daystar Television will broadcast two easter presentations; one on Wednesday, April 4th, at noon, 9 PM, and 1AM, and on the following Friday at the same times. For the Wednesday showing, the Fort Lauderdale First Baptist Church will be shown, with both a choir and orchestra. For the Friday presentation, Thorn Productions will show their production of “The Thorn,” a demonstration of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. [21]

April 19th, 2012

Daystar has expanded its reach further in the Caribbean, with launches in Trinidad, Grenada, and Curaco. [22]

April 20th, 2012

The Refreshing Times Conference will take place in Fort Worth, Texas at the Fort Worth Convention Center from November first to the third. The event will be hosted by Marcus and Joni Lamb, and will feature guest speakers such as Bishop T.D. Jakes, John Hagee and John Paul Jackson.
