It stars <a title=\"Bill Nighy\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0631490\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Nighy<\/a>, <a title=\"Imelda Staunton\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0001767\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">Imelda Staunton,<\/a> <a title=\"Dominic West\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0922035\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">Dominic West,<\/a><a title=\"Paddy Considine\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0175916\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\"> Paddy Considine<\/a>, and is directed by <a title=\"Matthew Warchus\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0911334\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">Matthew Warchus.<\/a> The film was distributed by <a title=\"Pathe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pathe.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Pathe<\/a> and the acquisition deal was made by Scott Shooman who negotiated with Cameron McCracken and Pierre du Plessis <a title=\"[5].\" href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2014\/film\/news\/pride-acquired-by-cbs-films-1201260702\/\">[5]<\/a>. <em>Pride<\/em> was a small film with a limited release of only 124 theaters in the U.S and has a total gross of $1,446,634 <a title=\"[6].\" href=\"http:\/\/boxofficemojo.com\/movies\/?id=pride2014.htm\" target=\"_blank\">[6].<\/a> Critics gave the film great reviews and was given <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/pride_2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes\u00a0[7].<\/a>\u00a0To advertise the film, CBS Films relied heavily on the use of social media and personal interactions through the audiences via <a title=\"Twitter\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CBSFilms\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter.<\/a> CBS Films retweeted audience reviews of Pride on their page instead of self-promoting the movie themselves. According to Vice President of Communications Grey Munford, \u201c the best thing you can do is retweet the good things other people are saying. The <a title=\"trailer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ci7eKlNRiuw\" target=\"_blank\">trailer f<\/a>or <em>The DUFF<\/em> had it&#8217;s world release during the premiere of<a title=\"The Hunger Games\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1951265\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\"> <em>The Hunger Games<\/em><\/a> as part of a strategy by CBS to target the demographic of Women Under 25 [2]. According to Munford, the trailer was strategically released during <em>The Hunger Games<\/em> because it was the single biggest movie released between November and February that would reach the target demographic [2]. \u00a0<em>The DUFF\u00a0<\/em> is about a high school girl who finds out she is the<br \/>\n&#8220;DUFF&#8221; of her friend group- the designated ugly fat friend, and she desperately tries to change her image. This film has also used social media to advertise, and actors <a title=\"Bella Thorne\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm2254074\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">Bella Thorne<\/a> and <a title=\"Robbie Amell\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm2064412\/?ref_=nv_sr_2\" target=\"_blank\">Robbie Amell <\/a>have tweeted a link to the trailer encouraging their fans and followers to watch it and see the movie when it is released.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_21627\" style=\"width: 177px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bejone03.expressions.syr.edu\/trf235\/files\/2014\/10\/Unknown-7.jpeg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21627\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-21627\" src=\"https:\/\/bejone03.expressions.syr.edu\/trf235\/files\/2014\/10\/Unknown-7.jpeg\" alt=\"Unknown-7\" width=\"167\" height=\"248\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-21627\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Promotional poster for The DUFF source: collider.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Starting in 2015, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lionsgate.com\">Lionsgate Entertainment<\/a>\u00a0will take over CBS Film\u2019s distribution operations as a multiyear agreement. The deal also includes Lionsgate taking control over all international sales for CBS films. They have a <a title=\"Facebook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/cbsfilms\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook <\/a>account where they constantly post about their current and upcoming projects and provide behind the scenes pictures for the 5,700 people who like the page. Vice President of Communications for CBS Films Grey Munford, explained how social media has helped their films successfully compete with big budget movies at the box office. Their film <em>The Woman In Black<\/em>, starring <a title=\"Daniel Radcliffe\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0705356\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Radcliffe<\/a>, opened up within 2-3 million dollars of Fox&#8217;s big budget film <em><a title=\"Chronicle\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1706593\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\">Chronicle<\/a>.<\/em> [2].
