As I expected, the show won the 10 pm time slot against \u2018The Brave\u2019 (NBC) and \u2018Scorpion\u2019 (CBS). Both these shows followed the trend of military television considering our current political climate while \u2018The Good Doctor\u2019 deviated from that tone. This brought a different target audience to tune into a show that essentially gives hope, relieve, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/sassy\">sassiness<\/a>\u2019 and a lot more feelings characteristic of what many refer to as \u2018feel good TV\u2019.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;I couldn&#39;t save them. it&#39;s sad.<br \/>Neither one had the chance to become an adult. They should have become adults.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TheGoodDoctor?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#TheGoodDoctor<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tQccZNomZb\">pic.twitter.com\/tQccZNomZb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; The Good Doctor (@GoodDoctorABC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GoodDoctorABC\/status\/912510522221834240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 26, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, it even got more ratings than its lead-in (\u2018Dancing with the Stars\u2019 got a 1.5 rating) averaging 11.22 million viewers and a 2.4 rating that was finally adjusted into a <a href=\"http:\/\/tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com\/daily-ratings\/monday-final-ratings-sept-25-2017\/\">2.2 rating<\/a>. However, this number is huge if compared to both of its competing shows: \u2018The Brave\u2019 got a 1.4 rating that then adjusted to a 1.3, and Scorpion got a 1.0 in its third season premiere.<\/p>\n<p>As expected, these last two battled among the 25-54 male demo, leaving \u2018The Good Doctor\u2019 to take all the rest of the audience, the 18-49 more female skewing demo, with a smart counter programming technique.
