The show follows Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and Savant syndrome, is recruited into the surgical unit of a prestigious hospital. The show is the #2 show on network television this season, behind NBC\u2019s \u201cThis Is Us\u201d. It has received critical acclaim. Freddie Highmore has been nominated for a Golden Globe for best performance by an actor in a television series \u2013 drama. He was also nominated for a Critics Choice Award for best actor in a drama series.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bejone03.expressions.syr.edu\/trf594\/files\/2018\/02\/MV5BMTU0Nzk2MDE2MV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMzg0MzI3MzI@._V1_UX182_CR00182268_AL_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4078\" src=\"https:\/\/bejone03.expressions.syr.edu\/trf594\/files\/2018\/02\/MV5BMTU0Nzk2MDE2MV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMzg0MzI3MzI@._V1_UX182_CR00182268_AL_.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"182\" height=\"268\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Good Doctor\u201d has exceeded expectations. The pilot on September 25 put up a rating of 2.19 and over 11 million viewers for the 18-49 demographic. The shocking part is the show\u2019s ability to keep those ratings. The show\u2019s biggest viewership deficit was 8.17%, but then went back up the next week 12.49%. While it has not been officially picked up for a second season, it is a shoe in for renewal.
