Overview: 20th Century Fox, formally known as Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, has recently become one of the six major American film studios. Currently located in Los Angeles, CA, 20th Century Fox was founded in 1935. Their parent company is Fox Entertainment Group {1}. In 1985, they were bought by News Corporation and 20th Century Fox has been owned by them since. Their divisions include 20th Century Fox Animation and Fox 2000 Pictures. {2}. Their current sales are at $111.10 M. {3}.

Brief History: In 1933 Joseph Schenck, Darryl F. Zanuck, William Goetz and Raymond Griffith created Twentieth Century Pictures, which was an independent motion picture production company. Then Joeseph Schenck and Fox management agreed to merge together to form The Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation in May of 1935 (in 1985 they dropped the hyphen between Century and Fox). After some ups and downs with financial problems, Rupert Murdoch bought his interest in Fox in 1984. {1}
Debbie Miller was hired as executive VP of marketing. She will oversee publicity, promotions, research and digital marketing with her new position which begins on April 23rd. As well, Kevin Yoder is stepping up from managing director of MarketCast to executive VP of marketing and strategy. Both of them have had multiple experiences in the industry and the 20th Century Fox team is excited about their arrivals. {8}
20th Century Fox has created a new promotion where people can use their smart phones to scan a QR code off a special wall in select areas and buy 20th Century movies and TV shows directly to their device. The locations they currently have these walls are Taubman Centers in Los Angeles (The Beverly Center); Fairfax, Va.; Short Hills, N.J.; and Stamford and Farmington, Conn., among 26 other malls. Some of the movies available with this feature are Alvin And The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (which streets March 27), X-Men: First Class, Alien, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Sons of Anarchy, Rio, Gulliver’s Travels and Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules. IMAX Corporations, Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox announced that on April 4th they will release Titanic in 3D to 149 theaters. The movie has grossed $1.8 billion since its release in Dec. 1997. {10}
April: 20th Century Fox is now in the talks to distribute and as well possibly co-finance the film The Counselor. The film has already tied on the famous names Ridley Scott, Javier Bardem and Jeremy Renner, and now word is out that Angelina Jolie may be part of the cast as well. It is set to start filming next month. {11}
Hugh Jackman is set to star in the next The Wolverine. The film is prepared to start shooting in August down under in Australia. The film is an $80 million production which will create over 720 jobs. It’s current release date is slated for July 2013. This will be Fox’s sixth film from the X-Men series. {12}
