The new 30 minute CBS show, Young Sheldon is a spin off of television’s #1 sitcom, The Big Bang Theory. The storyline takes you to the past in Sheldon Cooper’s life as a gifted 9 year old in Texas. Sheldon has skipped four grades to High School in 1989. Sheldon struggles to be accepted by his older peers and understood by his parents and the community.
The original Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons, will narrate the series. Parsons came up with the initial idea for the spin off series in Fall 2016. The show was then created by The Big Bang Theory creator, Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men). Lorre writes the series along side Steven Molaro.
In March 2017, Iain Amritage (Big Little Lies) was casted as Young Sheldon along with Zoe Perry as his mother Marry Cooper. Perry is the real life daughter of Laurie Metcalf who plays Sheldon’s mother in The Big Bang Theory.
A special airing of the show will premiere on September 25th at 8:30pm. The show airs right after The Big Bang Theory’s 11th season premier. The show will then continue to be aired weekly on Thursdays with their first full episode premiering on November 2nd.
