Last night’s episode of Limitless featured a lot of hidden references to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The characters had similar costumes on and dialogue.  The opening scene of the episode was nearly a shot for shot remake from the film. The reason why Limitless was like this is because one of the executive producers of the show is a big fan of Ferris Bueller. I think this was an bold move because the film is a comedy and the show is a drama. The blend of genres must have made last night’s episode interesting to watch for viewers questioning why there were references to an 80’s movie in a new drama series entirely unrelated.

Viewers seemed to have enjoyed it because the show’s ratings increased slightly over the previous week.  Last week’s episode of Limitless yielded a 1.4 rating and an audience of 7.45 million. Last night’s episode had an initial 1.5 rating and 7.84 million people watching.
