OF KINGS AND PROPHETS: WHAT TO LOOK FOR THIS SEASON
Adam Cooper and Bill Collage, writers and creators of the new ABC drama series, “Of Kings and Prophets”, a modern, yet historic account of the biblical tales of David and King Saul, are well-versed in bringing biblical stories to Hollywood. Both were cowriters on the film “Exodus: Gods and Kings” (2014), which received much criticism due to the lack of diversity in casting. In interviews, Cooper and Collage have stated the impact that criticism had on the making and casting for “Of Kings and Prophets”. With a delayed release date, Cooper, Collage and the rest of ABC are hoping for great success from the show referring to it as a “non-dragon version of Game of Thrones”. Other Bible-related shows, such as NBC’s “A.D. The Bible Continues” (2015) have not seen much success averaging 1.06 rating and 5.4 million viewers over the course of last season. However, ABC is looking to set itself apart from those shows immediately, with a trailer that hints at the violence and sex viewers should expect to see from week to week. “Of Kings and Prophets” premieres March 8.
