It was very interesting to me to learn in class last week that it is NOT a big deal if a new show does not start its main marketing campaign more than a month away from being premiered. This is especially the case for CBS this season because we are in the midst of the sweeps period. During the sweeps period networks really have to focus on, and promote, their most current and best programming. This explains why a networks newer shows that may not have aired yet are not getting as much exposure. This is the case for CBS and their show Rush Hour that does not air for another month. Before learning about this sweeps process I really thought that CBS was giving up on the show before it was even airing, maybe due to some possible test audience runs. It is reassuring to hear that that this may not be the case and I really do believe they will kick up the marketing and advertising of the show into full gear in the coming weeks.
