Empire’s return became an immediate threat to other Wednesday shows and their channels when it first rebooted a couple weeks ago. CBS became the third watched channel last week, while Empire’s 18-34 ratings maintained a high 11.49 and beat out all of FOX’s Wednesday shows and other channels that aired their shows as well.
When Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders started to dip from 1.6 all the way to 1.2 due to FOX’s reboot of Empire at 8pm (Before Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders on CBS at 10pm), it became clear that Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders’s ratings are starting to fluctuate based on how spread out their 18-34 ratings have been.
TVbythenumbers stated that its low 1.2 rose to a 1.46 last week (April 13) and that the seasons average so far is a 1.38. Survivor is still the top watched show on CBS on Wednesdays (with their consistency of a 18-34 rating around 1.8 and 1.9), but despite Survivors constant popularity, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders still holds its own with its big leap from a low 1.2 18-34 rating from its April 6th showing, to a 1.46 rating last week. The sudden rise in ratings shows that there may be still hope for the show to survive as it still battles against Survivor and Empire on FOX.
