The future does not look promising for Dynasty. TV line shows that last Wednesday’s episode only had 730,000 total viewers and a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, 33% down from the prior week. Although TV Fanatic shows critics say the reboot is an embarrassment, it might be a possibility that Dynasty gets renewed for a second season due to its deal with Netflix. CW has already made a profit because they sold the rights to the leading streaming service before the premiere occurred. However, while this upfront payment might have seemed like a good idea, the network will run into issues if the ratings drop much further. If ratings decrease in upcoming weeks, Dynasty will become the lowest rated show on the network, which could leave them with no place to put it. Based on statistics from TV-aholic, it is clear that the problem has to do with the show itself rather than the CW network as a whole. CW’s Riverdale airs right before Dynasty and was a huge success last week with its second best rating of 0.6 in the 18-49 demographic. Viewers are actively choosing to change the channel after which is definitely not a good sign for the creators of Dynasty.
