In week 4, TV By The Numbers shows that Dynasty kept its 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with a slight viewership increase of 760,000. It lost half of Riverdale’s 1.58 million lead in audience. Once again, Modern Family took the lead during this time slot with 5.51 million viewers. E News has labeled Dynasty as a “loser of the 2017 Fall TV season”. Additionally, Dynasty has increased its social media presence on Instagram within the past few weeks. Along with posting small video clips from each episode, they have also made an effort to draw attention to the high fashion clothing. Since the expensive wardrobe is such a big part of the storyline, the creators started releasing “Fashion Friday” posts in which they show a character’s outfit from a specific episode. On October 20th, a photo was posted of Fallon Carrington’s “funeral look” that labeled the brands of each of her garments. This included designers such as Prada, Charlotte Olympia, and Saint Laurent. I personally believe that these “Fashion Friday” posts will just come off as superficial and be a turn-off to viewers. Instead, the creators need to do organic social media in order to promote Dynasty’s unique characteristics in a more appealing way.
