Coming in hot, Fox’s The Grinder second episode, “A Hero Has Fallen,” aired last night and to the networks’s satisfaction remained steadfast with a 1.5 rating. Target audience 18-49 saw an overnight increase in numbers, calming any restless nerves.

According to Entertainment Weekly, providing viewers with an equally captivating and enjoyable follow-up to a comedy’s pilot is a difficult task. The Grinder, however, managed to pull this off comfortably. EW attributes much of the success to the comical brotherly relationship shared between Dean and Stewart.

Ratings were not the only thing that mirrored last weeks results. NBC’s The Voice continues to hold its winning numbers while ABC’s “The Muppets” seem to improve each week. Both series placed higher than The Grinder  and its lead-in Grandfathered. On a brighter note, Fox’s 8-9 PM comedy series are demonstrating more success than the previous season’s combo of New Girl and Mindy Project.
