What makes a new comedy series successful? According to Fox’s president of entertainment, David Madden, the combination of razor-sharp wit and relatable family dynamics does the job. Good news for all Grinder fans, Fox has sent out a request for a continuation of the whole season!
Although we did see a large decrease from W1 air date to W3, with numbers dropping approximately 42%, I observe a recent 14% uptick of viewership numbers with both last week and this week remaining steady number at a .9 rating.
The Grinder’s lead-in, Grandfathered, featuring the handsome John Stamos, continues to dominate every week, although by small numbers as stated by B&C. Of course, let us not forget the big competition at hand, The Voice, which other new series are contending with as well. The prominent show won the NBC network a broadcast ratings contest last week for such high Nielsen overnight ratings (`1.8 rating A18-49 & 6 share). Despite the heavy competition, The Grinder can sleep soundly at night because they will continue on for a whole season unlike others who did not make the cut.
