The iHeartRadio Music Festival finally aired on the CW in two parts: November 22nd and November 24th at 8:00 P.M before and after Thanksgiving. The festival was to originally air October 4th and October 5th, but after October’s early shooting in Las Vegas, which is where the festival was held, it was postponed. iHeartRadio did not make an announcement of the air date until two days beforehand on November 20th. Wednesdays and especially Fridays do not get high viewership. Around the holidays get even lower viewership. The first half of the show (11/23) received a 1.23 million viewers with a .4 ratings. It had the lowest viewership and ratings at the 8:00 P.M time slot for that night compared to other networks. The 2nd half of the show (11/24) received a .86 viewership and a .8 rating. Again, it was the lowest viewership and ratings at the 8:00 P.M time slot for that night compared to other networks. In fact, The iHeartRadio Music Festival, had the the 3rd lowest viewership for CW prime time that week, just in front of Arrow and VALOR. CW tends to get lower ratings compared to other networks and the iHeartRadio Music Festival was originally set to air on a Wednesday to Thursday (but Thursday was changed to Friday because of Thanksgiving) at 8:00 P.M. However, based on the timing of iHeartRadio and no type of promoting for the event to be found, it is safe to say iHeartRadio at this point no longer wanted to wait and just get the show out there on air.

Wisdom of the Crowd #13
And that is a wrap on CBS’s Wisdom of the Crowd. The tech-based crime drama will not be renewed after its first season. The announcement was made on Monday, November 27.This was one of the last new CBS shows to hear word about a renewal or cancellation, no doubt due to the investigation of Jeremy Pivon’s sexual allegations which have yet to be deemed true. Wisdom of the Crowd will continue to air all 13 episodes of its season as scheduled. With four more episodes to air, the season will be completed in late December. The shows ratings have been steady. The first 6 episodes reached an average viewership of 8 million. After Pivon’s scandal, the past 3 episodes reached an average viewership of 6.7 million. The 9th episode even went up in ratings compared to the 8th with 6.9 million viewers and a .9 rating. Tech-based crime dramas historically have not done well in the past and tend to get dropped. With an average viewership of 7.6 million and a 1 rating over 9 episodes, the show has nothing to be ashamed of. Its adverting was good, its social media interaction was strong, and fans liked the show. Yet, Wisdom of the Crowd was ranked the lowest-rated new drama on CBS. Between the “low” ratings and Pivon’s sexual allegations, it is transparent to why CBS would not want to renew Wisdom of the Crowd. There is talk that the show, Elementary may replace Wisdom of the Crowd’s time slot for the Spring schedule. Elementary had 8 more episodes ordered for CBS, raising its count to 21 episodes for its 6 season.
Wisdom of the Crowd #12
Ratings for Wisdom of the Crowd continue to drop as episode 8 received 6.3 million viewers and a .8 rating compared the the previous week of 6.8 million and a .8 rating as well. Ironically November 19 episode, “Denial of Service,” focused on topics such as sexism and feminism, while lead actor Jeremy Pivon still faces accusations of sexual assault. As WOTC continues to film and air on schedule, CBS newcomer, SWAT, has been renewed for a second season. Between Pivon’s allegations and the drop in ratings, the probability of WOTC being renewed any time soon is decreasing. CBS recently fired journalist Charlie Rose after he was accused of unwanted sexual advanced towards eleven women, three of which are CBS employees. If more women speak out against Pivon or the allegations are true, Pivon may be out of a job with CBS just like Rose.
Wisdom of the Crowd #11
Wisdom of the Crowd’s 7th episode took a turn reaching its lowest viewership thus far in the show’s run. November 12th’s show reached 6.8 million viewers with a rating of .8 compared to the previous week’s viewership of 8 million with a 1.1 rating. All other Sunday shows had steady ratings according to tvbythenumber. While WOTC may be losing its momentum, the drop can be contributed to lead actor Jeremy Piven’s sexual allegations. Pivon still denies inappropriate behavior towards Entourage extra Anastasia Taneie, however other actresses and executives have accused Piven as well including Ariane Bellamar, Cassidy Freeman, and Tiffany Bacon Scourby. Piven took a polygraph test and passed saying he never took sexual advantage of a woman or touched their genitals without their consent.
Wisdom of the Crowd #10
With baseball season over, CBS’s Wisdom of the Crowd’s ratings went back up for its 6th episode; Trojan Horse. It reached 8 million viewers with a rating of 1.1. The data reveals that Jeremy Pivon’s sexual accusations have not affected the ratings. After a week and a half since these accusations were brought to light, no evidence has yet been found proving them true. Social media took well to the past episode for highlighting teen suicide. This is not the first time the show has used social themes, such as last week when it viewed racial injustices and police brutality. Both CBS shows, WOTC and NCIS: Los Angles, which airs right after WOTC, has yet to have been renewed even though both do well with audiences. Also CBS newcomer, 9JKL, according to TV by the Numbers, is likely to get cancelled by May 2018 based on ratings. However, it looks very likely that Young Sheldon will get renewed even though only one episode has been released. Its fan base from The Big Bang Theory has made that apparent in the retention rate.
Wisdom of the Crowd #9
It has been a big and interesting week to say the least for CBS’s Wisdom of the Crowd. Sunday’s world series game, which took place at the same time as the show. The results were that WOTC’s ratings were down a tenth; 7.4 million viewers with a .8 rating (compared to 8.0 million viewers with a 1.1 rating the week before).
CBS has also ordered three additional scripts for both WOTC and 9JKL, both new shows. This brings the episode count of both shows from 13 to 16.
On Monday, WOTC star Jeremy Piven was accused of sexual assault by actress Ariane Bellamar on the set of Entourage and at the Playboy Mansion. Bellamar issued statements on Twitter asking Piven if he remembers cornering her and touching her. CBS has been conducting an investigation, but so far nothing has been found. Piven issued this statement denying the claims, “I unequivocally deny the appalling allegations being peddled about me. It did not happen. It takes a great deal of courage for victims to come forward with their histories, and my hope is that the allegations about me that didn’t happen, do not detract from stories that should be heard.” CBS said they take these matters very serious. Piven’s interview on ‘The Late Show’ was dropped after these allegations. If these claims are indeed proven true, WOTC may in fact be canceled just like House of Cards after Kevin Spacey’s sexual assault became public.
iHeartRadio Music Festival #1
The 7th annual iHeartRadio Music Festival took place on Friday and Saturday Sept 22-23 at Las Vegas at MGM Grand. It is marketed as the biggest musical names coming together for an incredible weekend. Tickets sold out within 10 mins of its release. Still, there were contests to win tickets, meet celebrities, and get VIP access. If someone did not get a ticket, a Live Stream aired on iHeartRadio. During the iHeartRadio Music Festival stream, there were 53862 promos. 25,000 people were expected to attend the live show. It was hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Elvis Duran, both of whom have shows on iHeartRadio. The festival alone had 13 national partners and one marquee partner, all of which were visible upon entering its website. The CW originally was going to air the festival to television Oct 4th and Oct 5th both a 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM. However, in light of the Las Vegas shooting (where the festival was held) in early October, the airing was postponed. After almost a month later, there has still been no word of a new airing date.
Wisdom of the Crowd #8
CBS’s Wisdom of the Crowd’s 4th episode aired at its usual time and day on 10/22 The episode was controversial in displaying issues of racism, illegal immigration and violent protests. It appeared to have sided with liberal ideologies and bash conservatives. Writer of the episode, Patrick Moss, took to Twitter and tweeted, “Honesty didn’t mean to offend – as it wasn’t a take on him at all. Honest.” Regardless, the episode reached eight million views and received a rating of 1.1. It is unclear how many episodes were ordered for this season, but the titles of episode five and six have been released. While Wisdom of the Crowd has so far had consistently high ratings from week to week, the show has yet to be renewed for another season. Production has still been occurring as of a month ago, where filming took place on September 28th in Los Angles. This is a different location then the show was originally shot in in Vancouver. Star of the show, Jeremy Piven said in an interview that they film a lot, usually in 12 hour days from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM. That being said, it sounds like viewers can expect more episodes.
Wisdom of the Crowd #7
Episode 3 of CBS’s Wisdom of the Crowd drew 8.26 million viewers with a rating of 1.2. These numbers are up compared to the 2nd episode now that Sunday sports were back on CBS. It is up 20% in it’s key demo compared to episode 2. On the week it aired (10/16), CBS had four out of the five most watched program for that week. CBS also had seven of the top ten shows, including Wisdom of the Crowd. Social media users have reacted well the the show, as most audience engagement has been positive. Facebook is up to 28,695 likes and 29,119 followers, while Twitter has 317 likes and 2,510 followers.
Wisdom of the Crowd #6
Episode 2 of CBS’s Wisdom of the Crowd drew 8.0 million viewers compared to the 8.8 million that watched the first episode. The ratings also went from 1.4 to 1 among the 18-49 demographic. The drop was about 25%. The other 75% is a considerably high retention rate. Deadline contributes the drop mainly to the NFL not airing this past week on CBS, which lead in those viewers into other CBS shows. This is also evident by 60 Minutes, and NCIS: Los Angeles also losing ratings. For a Sunday night, WOTC is CBS’s 2nd biggest show this past week behind 60 Minutes. Ghosted, WOTC’s biggest competition as of last week, managed to keep their ratings at 1.4. CarterMatt fears that there will be a continual rating dropping because of the title of the show itself. Wisdom of the Crowd is an abstract phrase that may not attract newcomers it. While the phrase itself is not new, it does not say much about the show. It is an interesting thought. Shows tend to drop in ratings as time goes by but a title is something worth considering. For example, Disney’s Princess and the Frog did not do as well as expected because the word “princess” does not attract a lot of boys. Learning from their mistakes, Disney’s next princess movie was not called Rapunzel, the female princess, but Tangled. The title WOTC makes sense because it is about crowd sourcing. It may or may not draw on potential viewer’s curiosity, but only time will tell.
