The Player #2

Critics have recently all been on the same wavelength when it comes to The Player. It is being described as an action packed hour, that verges on the extremes. Its original plot of solving crimes before they happen, is a very attractive quality in a show after all of the crime shows on television who solve after the fact. The Player is putting a new twist on an “oldie but a goodie,” and is one of the closest things to a straight-out action series that NBC has had in quite some time.

The environment of the show is said to be “absolutely unbelieveable,” but an exciting performance by a powerful Snipes and the physical prowess of Winchester seem to balance out that fact. However, with it’s intensity verging on unrealistic, and it going up against favorites such as ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder and CBS’s Elementary, the show has some definite obstacles to jump over.

The Player – Post #1

NBC’s The Player premieres its first episode on Thursday, September 24th. The Player stars main character Alex Kane, Philip Winchester, as he works as a security expert in Las Vegas. Other key characters include Mr. Johnson, played by Wesley Snipes, and Cassandra, Charity Wakefield, who act as The Pit Boss and The Dealer, respectively. They lead gambling rings that bet on Alex’s ability to prevent crime in the city, or break through the security systems of wealthy clients. The show is described as a combination of intense action-packed content and absurdity. It will take situations to incomprehensible heights, and attempt to leave in shock after every episode.

Sharing the same producers as NBC’s The Blacklist, it will follow the show on the Thursday night line-up. The Blacklist will return at 9pm on Thursday, with The Player following at 10pm, as the network hopes to piggyback the same audience.
