As the fall season is nearing the end and shows are fighting to stay on air, Heroes Reborn is slowly but steadily chugging along. This week marked the 9th episode of the mini-series. Though the storyline has been picking up speed over the past few weeks, the ratings have not reflected the hype. This week the show received a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and scored 3.78 million viewers. This is down from a 1.3 rating last week, which marked a season high. However, it is likely that this number will jump up in this week’s live+ 7 day numbers. Last week, Heroes Reborn increased by an epic 90% going from a 1.0 to a 1.9. This increase is likely due to fans who intend on watching the show but don’t want to give up watching Thursday Night Football live in CBS. NBC may be keeping quiet about a possible second season due to delayed ratings stalling any decision making; a trend we’ve been seeing a lot of lately in the TV industry.

Heroes Reborn Post #10
This week Heroes Reborn saw its first ratings jump of the season. The episode, “June 13, Part Two” received a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and kept a steady 3.95 million viewers. This episode gave fans more information on the Texas terror attack central to the plot of the series, and explained more unanswered questions from the Heroes final season. The hype for these answers may have contributed to the 60% raise in 18-34 year old viewers. However, the main reason for this increase was likely due to the fact that the show wasn’t up against a football game this week. CBS returned to normal programming with The Big Bang Theory and Life In Pieces. Since there was no game, Hereos Reborn gained some of its predominantly male fan base back. This was an exciting week for Heroes Reborn in terms of ratings, but also in terms of recognition. The show tweeted yesterday about its People’s Choice Award nomination for “Favorite New TV Drama.” Maybe some of this buzz will sway NBC into ordering a second season.
Heroes Reborn Post #9
In an effort to expand its audience, Heroes Reborn has created a companion mobile video game called Heroes Reborn: Enigma. The game, set in an orphanage/ lab for EVOs (evolved humans), can be played on iOs and Android for $4.99. Heroes Reborn: Enigma was written by Heroes creator Tim Kring and the rest of the Heroes Reborn writing staff. Fans can also look forward to a full PC, Mac, console game that was announced to be in the works called Heroes Reborn: Gemini. The games were created by big name game developer Phosphor and released by Imperative entertainment.
The two games tell compelling stories that interlock with the central themes of Heroes Reborn and have been getting great reviews from users and fans. This is just one of the many lengths television networks are going to lately to remain relevant and noticed in the fragmented digital age. However, it is unclear how well this marketing effort is working as the ratings for Heroes Reborn have been on a steady decline since its September 24th premier. This week the show’s 7th episode received a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 group with 3.95 million total viewers. No news yet what effect this downward slope has had on potential renewal for a full season.
Heroes Reborn Post #8
Almost at the halfway mark for the series, Heroes Reborn debuted its 6th episode on NBC this Thursday. However, it is tomorrow’s episode that has everyone talking. Spoilers for episode 7 have been released that mark an important event in the series. It’s been suggested that information regarding the attacks in Odessa where the series began will be revealed. It is also expected that some original heroes such as Sandhill Ramamurtny and Christina Rose, will return in addition to Hiro Kanazawa’s role last week. The episode will be available via lifestream on NBC’s website, presumably to in order to up viewership. Last week, Heroes Reborn maintained a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 group. However, its total viewership was down to 3.8 million from last week’s 4.01 million.
It is also important to note that in week 3 the show gained a significant increase in rating due to DVR services. Tybythenumbers.com reported a 92% increase from a 1.2 live+SD to a 2.3 in live+7. NBC can only hope for this to happen each week.

Ratings Plummet
Heroes Reborn aired its fifth episode of the season last week. The episode titled “The Lion’s Den” continued the steady four week decline in ratings for the show. The episode earned a mere 1.1 rating, down from 1.2 the previous week. However, the show was pretty average in terms of its competitors such as Bones which received a 1.1, as well, and Vampire Diaries which received a 0.6. The show’s main competition, Grey’s Anatomy and Thursday Night Football pregame only received 2.3 and 2.0 ratings, respectively. Heroes Reborn was relatively average for the 8pm broadcast time spot. These low ratings for broadcast may be due to viewers attracted to cable programs such as the MLB Championship Series games on TBSC which also aired on Thursday night at 8pm and ranked #12 in “TV By the Numbers” top 25 cable programs.
Many also see the cause of this downfall to be the show’s content. Reviews have stated the show is simply not good enough to retain an audience with so many better options to chose from. Likely, the remaining viewers are the true Heroes fans, thankful for the revival of a beloved show.
Though Heroes Reborn has been showing a consistent decrease in ratings, reports of NBC canceling the mini-series have not surfaced. It is expected that the network will let the show play out for the remaining eight episodes.

Premier Night
The long awaited Heroes Reborn debut premiered last Thursday at 8pm on NBC. Though the ratings weren’t stellar, the show held its own against a TOUGH line-up of competitors. The two-hour premier received a 2.0 rating with 18-49 year olds with 6 million live plus same day viewers. The premier was up against ABC’s Thursday night line-up of powerhouse shows created by Shonda Rhimes, dubbed TGIT, and Thursday Night Football on CBS. The premier of Scream Queens on FOX also debuted from 8-10, though the targeted demographic skewed slightly younger and only received a live plus same day rating of 0.7. Though all of the ABC dramas were down since last year’s premiers, they still dominated in the race for second place against the NFL’s live plus same day 6.0 rating.
According to Neilson, the two-hour premiere of Heroes Reborn consistently lost viewers throughout the night. Though that doesn’t seem to bode well for this week’s viewership, the live plus 3 ratings provide some encouragement. Heroes Reborn was up 55% to a live plus 3 rating of 3.1. This seems to indicate that although fans didn’t want to miss their favorite dramas or game, they were still interested enough to check out the show. Hopefully, they liked what they saw and will be tuning in to NBC again tomorrow at 8.

Sci-Fi Is the New Black
This fall the sci-fi, fantasy genre is heating up with shows like Limitless, Minority Report, Supergirl, and of course, Heroes Reborn. With so many shows for fantasy lovers to chose from, who will sink and who will swim in the upcoming season? Critics have been watching closely and from their remarks, Heroes Reborn has a promising season ahead. Although the original show, Heroes, left fans disappointed with its final season, fans are excited for the reboot. Name recognition has definitely helped create buzz and anticipation for the mini-series.
However, great content doesn’t always win out over industry forces. TV advertisers don’t necessarily see the potential in Heroes Reborn according to a list of predicted hits published by Variety. Because of Heroes Reborn’s tough competition, advertisers aren’t placing their bets on the show’s success. The show premiers this Thursday at 8pm on NBC up against the much anticipated season 12 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy, Bones, The Vampire Diaries and Thursday Night Football.
Only time will tell whether Heroes Reborn can hold its own against a list of powerhouse competitors and dominate the sci-fi genre.
Heroes Reborn- Post #2
NBC took 114 million viewers by surprise when it debuted the Heroes Reborn trailer during the 2015 Superbowl. Before this reveal, there was virtually no chatter indicating any expectation for the revitalization of the critically acclaimed series Heroes. However, with the premier just days away, the hype for the 13-episode mini series continues to rise due to the expansive marketing push from NBC.
Though its going to be hard for NBC to top the iconic “save the cheerleader, save the world” slogan, Heroes Reborn has been making waves with its stunning movie posters and electrifying trailers. Check out the most recent trailer below.
Along with various public appearances by the cast at big name events such as Comic-Con and TIFF, NBC furthered its promotional efforts with a digital prequel series titled Hereos Reborn: Dark Matters that fans can stream directly from the NBC website. Additionally, fans are anxiously awaiting the release of a Heroes Reborn video game.
Lastly, this week NBC brought the final push by taking the series to Times Square where fans could interact with the show and “become a hero” through an interactive photo both and multi-visionary experience. All of the fan created content was shared via social media.
It will be interesting to see how NBC continues to promote the show after the September 24th premier.
Heroes Reborn – Post #1
Five years after fans said goodbye to the critically acclaimed NBC drama Heroes, creator Tim Kring is bringing the fantasy world of superpowers back to the small screen with Heroes Reborn. While the 13-episode event doesn’t pick up where the original series left off, the show is set in the same world as Heroes and some original characters appear. Heroes Reborn premiers on NBC on Thursday, September 24th at 8pm staring Jack Coleman, Ryan Guzman, Robbie Kay and Gatlin Green.
The show picks up one year after a terror attack in Odessa, Texas that left the city decimated. The world has just come to find out about Evolved Humans, those possessing powers, and blame the “Evos” for the attack leaving them hunted and outcast. The series follows those who survived the attack and the hunters seeking them.
For Heroes fans, the show is a welcome glimpse at the series they know and love. However, many wonder if this mini-series can carry its own fan base.
