Raise your hand if you miss our four besties as much as I do! Every Thursday for the past month has been super hard with the absence of my favorite activity- lounging around at 9pm cracking up at Will, Grace, Karen, and Jack being their ridiculous selves. Thank gosh for hulu because I’ve been able to fill that void and watch old re-runs. I don’t know who’s with me (I’m guessing everyone!) but I’m itching for some new content. Well, just call me santa clause because I have the best present of all! It may not be Thursday night, but Tuesday, December 5th, they are back baby! And… this is no regular episode; we have got something special on our hands! Next week is a Christmas episode! I’m so excited to tune into this special episode and see what we have in store. Ratings predictions: as long as they market the new time, ratings are going way up. I mean who doesn’t love a good old Christmas special- crazy people, that’s who.

Will & Grace #10
Will & Grace became a hit long before the social media era. There was no twitter or instagram when they came out and they did all the marketing the old fashioned way. The revival of the show had me worried that they would stick to their old ways, but I’m happy to say that I’m wrong. Not only does the show have a rockin’ instagram with great behinds the scenes that gets fans riled up, but our four best friends post just as much to get their followers invested in what’s coming up on the show!
This is a great tactic for the show because everyone loves to see how the sausage is made, and just because that wasn’t a viable option the first time around, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be now. The cast gives us selfies, greenroom shots, and all around fun times with the cast to get the fans excited. My personal favorite touch is when the cast members, like Megan Mullally pots teasers for upcoming episodes to get fans to tune into the fun stuff they have coming this week.
Will & Grace #9
Will & Grace may be done for its fall season with 6 incredible episodes, but that does not mean they are done. This reboot has done better than anyone expected and I suspect that the reason is because they “are brining nostalgia back”.
As if fans aren’t pleased enough with having their four favorite fabulous friends back together, the way Will & Grace is bringing in an amazing amount of viewers each week is by bringing in old favorites to raise that nostolog-meter up and playing off of fan favorites.
The show has brought back not only great characters, but A-list actors to warm the hearts of old viewers and draw them back in. Some of the greats like Harry Connick JR. playing his infamous role of Leo, Minni Driver as Karen’s mortal enemy Lorraine Finster, and Leslie Jordan as Beverly Leslie have been brought back to make the show as great as it is.
As an old fan how could you not tune into your favorite show when they bring back your favorite cameos. It’s smart Will & Grace is playing in as many old facts as possible in order to get and keep the fans they once had.
Will & Grace #8
Although Will & Grace has been doing so well and getting almost double the amount of viewers of other sitcoms on the air, it was a little worrisome that each week’s numbers have been dropping. Well, I’m happy to say that this week there’s great news! The numbers are back! After dropping to 6.51 million viewers, our buddies are back with 6.78 million other friends watching. Of course this is nothing compared to our first week of 10 million viewers, but it’s a good start at making our way back up there.
Here’s my prediction on where viewership will go. After the first week Will & Grace took a huge nose dive loosing about 3 million viewers, our next two weeks went slowly down by 200 thousand each week- and although this was a loss, the somewhat stabilization is better than another 3 million nose dive.
This week viewership was raised by 300 thousand. All of this information has lead me to believe that we are now at a stable point in viewership and ratings wont be dropping much more but will stay somewhat at this level as long as the content stays as loveable as it is.
Will & Grace #7
This past week was a great week for Will & Grace. It may not look like that on paper because viewership was down almost 1 million, but in reality there is still a silver lining to this week.
To me its okay that Will & Grace was down this week because almost every show this Thursday had a drop in viewers. Gray’s Anatomy hit a season low this week showing that it wasn’t Will & Grace’s content that brought viewership down, but it was just a lower viewer rate in general across the whole board.
The silver lining to this week is that Will & Grace tied with the NBC hit Grey’s Anatomy for top entertainment in this demo. Getting the top anything is always a plus for any content (unless its “top horrible show”) and although viewership is down, we still have a win in one category this week. Plus, this is huge to tie with Thursday night’s top show in any category!

Will & Grace #6
It was shocking to see this week that Will & Grace’s total viewership dropped again this week. The show’s viewership has now fallen almost 40% since it first aired a month ago. With that being said the show still got 6.51 million viewers, which is simply nothing to squawk at.
Although the dive in viewers isn’t great, Will & Grace got a major merit this week. Grey’s Anatomy is a longtime favorite show for Thursday night viewers and has been on the air since Will & Grace left 11 years ago. It captured the hearts of Thursday night viewers and is normally the most watched scripted show on Thursday nights, but with its absence this week Will & Grace was able to take that title! This is no small feat for a CBS sitcom- for example the sitcom “The Good Place” which is Will & Graces lead in got only 3.92 million viewers this week- nearly half of what Will & Grace raked in. Hopefully next week Will & Grace is able to keep their title and even raise back up in viewership.

Will & Grace #5
Uh, oh. Trouble in paradise. Will, Grace, Karen, Jack look like they are in a little bit of a pickle. Last weeks October 5th showing had a huge drop in ratings. Our revival was so hyped up and racked in an unbelievable and unprecedented 10 million viewers its first week, it was expected to have a drop in viewers the second week. But why couldn’t we uphold the more obtainable 7 million from the second week? My thought- the competition we are up against.
What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word “Scandal”? I know my first thought is one of the hottest shows of 2017. Scandal is a show that gets viewers because it’s great content. But so is Will & Grace you say? Me too.
But I see why Scandal steals live viewers from Will & Grace. Scandal is an on the edge of your seat show with plot twists and turns that you don’t want ruined for you the next day at work- Will & Grace not so much. So, people tend to watch Scandal live, and then tune into Will & Grace through DVR or streaming services, affecting the ratings.
Will & Grace #4
The merit of a show is very subjective- some people simply enjoy things that others don’t. That’s is why we look at the ratings- for quantitative answers. The problem with using live ratings is most people don’t watch television shows live anymore, so ratings don’t account for real viewership and how “popular” or “good” a show could be considered. To see how well a show is doing we need to look at the Live +3 or Live+7 viewership ratings.
Will and Graces re-debuted on September 28th did phenomenal for an NBC sitcom, but we didn’t even see how well they really did until looking at their L+3. The day after Will & Grace airs its put onto Hulu, leaving viewers options on how to watch- live, DVR’ed or streaming- so we must look at their L+3 or L+7 for accurate information.
Will & Grace’s Live+3 showed that their ratings were actually 2.6 points more (making it a 5.6) and they had 4.6 million more viewers than the data from the day it aired (making it 14.8 million). This was the biggest L+3 lift in primetime comedy history. By measuring delayed viewership we are able to get more accurate viewership ratings.

Will & Grace #3
Who would have guest that Will & Grace revival would do so well? Um, everyone! With their hilarious and stacked cast returning its no surprised that ratings were outstanding! With 3.0 in 18-49 and 10.2 million viewers, this show is an instant success.
Whether or not the content was actually good, the show had so much in its favor besides having a beloved cast. According to deadline some of the major helpers of the shows success included a massive promotional push by NBC, strong reviews, a bit of nostalgia, and a Thursday Night football weather delay. Either way the show made a phenomenal return. It was NBC’s highest-rated comedy since The Office series finale in May 2013
The wild success of the show may not be surprising but what is a surprising fact is that the season premier is up almost half a million viewers from their last season opener 12 years ago. This show had a lot in its favor so lets see if their content holds up and their viewers stay true in the next coming weeks.

Will & Grace #2
Will & Grace has just always been one of “those” show. It’s had huge followings and even if people weren’t fans of the show, everyone and their grandmother has sat down and watched at least one episode. Beucase of its popularity its always had high ratings; and what do high rating means- high advertising prices.
In its peak in 2003 a 30 second advertisement cost $414,500. It was the second highest advertising price on television that year.
As a reboot, it’s expected that advertising prices will be high for this fan favorite, but nobody could guess how high prices actually are. A 30 second commercials costs on average $211,856, which puts it in the top quadrant of prime-time TV shows.
Although it’s not as high as the peak of the show, that was never expected, the show needs to rebuild its fan base to get to that top spot again. But what should be noted is that this current price is almost the same cost as it was 11 years ago in the final season. I have no doubt that as the show goes on advertisement prices will rise even higher than they did in the shows prime.
