Limitless – Post #1

Based on the popular film, Limitless is now being adapted into a television series.

The show takes place in a time period after the film ends where, now Senator, Edward Morra (Bradley Cooper) gives the brain enhancing drug, NZT, to Brian Finch (Jake McDorman) and acts as his mentor on how to utilize it.  As Brian takes the drug and begins to realize his power potential, the FBI does as well, using him to solve their more complex cases.  Limitless also stars Dexter’s Jennifer Carpenter and CSI:NY’s Hill Harper. Bradley Cooper is Executive Producer of the show as well [1]

Limitless premieres on Tuesday, September 22 at 10PM on CBS.

Limitless is set to compete against a new episode of Best Time Ever With Neil Patrick Harris on NBC.  Although, NCIS: New Orleans is scheduled to lead into Limitless.  This could be beneficial for Limitless because it may obtain the NCIS audience, enhancing Limitless’ ratings. [2]

Minority Report – Post #1

“Minority Report”, directed by Mark Mylod, is premiering on Fox on Monday, September 21st at 9pm. The series is based off of the 2002 Spielberg film “Minority Report” starring Tom Cruise. The series will be starring Megan Good, Stark Sands, Wilmer Velderrama, Li Jun Li, Nick Zano, Laura Regan, and Daniel London.

“Minority Report” is the only new show airing as of right now at that time, but it will be competing with shows such as Scorpion on CBS and Chasing Life on ABC Family on the night of its premier. That night “Gotham” also premiers the first episode of it’s second season at 8pm. “Minority Report” follows the same type of sci-fi drama crime scene genre as “Gotham”. Fox most likely did this on purpose to hold its viewers for as long as possible until the local news on Fox at 10pm. Based on past Fox shows, “Minority Report” fits in well with the Monday night line up, but I could also see this show working on NBC or The CW with its sci-fi genre and its slowly unfolding love story.

Life in Pieces – Post #1

The cast of the new CBS sitcom, Life in Pieces

CBS’s newest sitcom, Life in Pieces, is set to debut Monday, September 21st at 8:30PM immediately following CBS’s most successful show, The Big Bang Theory. The family sitcom, created by Justin Adler, appears to be CBS’s answer to the popular ABC sitcom, Modern Family.

The series follows the multi-generational Short family and chronicles their life experiences through intertwining stories told from the perspective of each family member. The show will be shot in a single-camera format without a live audience which is a big departure from CBS’s usual sitcom formula.

The cast is lead by actor James Brolin and Academy Award winning actress Dianne West, who portray John and Joan Short, respectively. The series also follows their three adult children portrayed by Colin Hanks (Fargo), Betsey Brandt (Breaking Bad), and Thomas Sadoski (The Newsroom) as well as their various partners and children.

It will be interesting to see if CBS’s format change will pay off for them in the end. Placing Life in Pieces after The Big Bang Theory seems to indicate that CBS has high hopes for Life In Pieces.

Blindspot – Post #1

“Blindspot” is a sci-fi/thriller/drama that stars Jamie Alexander (Thor, Rest Stop) and Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of an Empire). Alexander plays Jane Doe.  A character who wakes up in the middle of Times Square with no recollection of herself or how she got there.  Adding to the mysterious aura surrounding Doe she has tattoos all over her body, including a back tattoo of the name of, F.B.I. agent, Kurt Weller.  Why does she have these tattoos all over her body? Specifically one of an F.B.I. agent? Where is she from? What is her real identity? You can find out when “Blindspot” premieres Monday, September 21st at 10pm on NBC.

“Blindspot” is taking the time slot of “Night Shift” from the Spring 2015 television season.  Following NBC’s two hour block of “The Voice”, “Blindspot” goes up against the long running series, ABC’s “Castle” and CBS’s “NCIS: Los Angeles”.  The pilot episode leaked online a month prior to the show’s premiere date, so it will be interesting to see how the ratings reflect that.
