Kings and Prophets #3

With the premiere of Kings and Prophets came gut wrenching reviews that left viewers not surprised. According to USAToday.com, the downfall before the show premiered was predicted because it was the same team that produced the biblical “flop” Exodus: Gods and Kings. The USAToday article stated:

The problems with this laughable, sometimes unintelligible gloss on the biblical story start with Saul himself. In the Bible, he’s the ancient uniter of Israel and Judah. In the hands of British actor Ray Winstone, he’s more like a London mob boss who’s losing control of the family business while fighting off attacks from the rival Philistine gang.

The show’s initial ratings were in 0.8 in adults 18-49. It was troublesome for the network and with the history for the Tuesday 10pm time slot, it could be possible that the show will be cancelled. Last premiere season, Wicked City had the Tuesday 10pm slot and was cancelled after three episodes.

Minority Report- Post #5 Possibly Losing its Prime Time Spot?

“Minority Report” falls further and further in ratings every week. This week it fell .2 points again to a .7 rating with a total viewership of 2.3 million viewers. According to Variety, “Minority Report” might end up losing its prime time spot following “Gotham” if these ratings continue. According to Variety its opening night, which brought in 3.1 million total viewers and a rating of 1.1, “was the lowest average for any of the fall’s big Four premiers to date, and it has only gone downhill from there.”

The reviews have been tough on the show as well and USA Today in particular did not have very nice things to say about the show and the storyline. To quote USA Today, “A procedural that tries to use gimmicks to mask the emptiness of its characters and the transparency of its central mystery? Check.” Things are not looking good for “Minority Report” and I’m not sure if there will be much more a season to review.

Is John Stamos involved in too much?

A simple Google search of John Stamos provides you with millions of results. Unfortunately for Fox, most of the links relate to the Full House spinoff, “Fuller House”. Although the extensive publicity for Fuller House cannot be blamed on Stamos, it could cause some worry for Grandfathered executives who appear to be having difficulty spreading the word about this new show. John Stamos went on the Today Show and had a one-on-one interview with Matt Lauer, but the highlights from the interview revolved around Stamos’ rehab stint and Fuller House. Stamos’ social media platform is also not focused around Grandfathered, which might damage the premiere ratings on September 29th. On the contrary, Josh Peck, the younger star of Grandfathered has been covering his social media accounts with posts about Grandfathered to help create buzz for the show.

Also, Grandfathered reviews have arrived from a multitude of sources praising John Stamos for his performance and claiming that he fits really well into television narratives. This positive critical acclaim and lackluster social media presence could lead to unpredictable viewership for the premiere.
