Heroes Reborn Post #8

Almost at the halfway mark for the series, Heroes Reborn debuted its 6th episode on NBC this Thursday. However, it is tomorrow’s episode that has everyone talking. Spoilers for episode 7 have been released that mark an important event in the series. It’s been suggested that information regarding the attacks in Odessa where the series began will be revealed. It is also expected that some original heroes such as Sandhill Ramamurtny and Christina Rose, will return in addition to Hiro Kanazawa’s role last week. The episode will be available via lifestream on NBC’s website, presumably to in order to up viewership. Last week, Heroes Reborn maintained a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 group. However, its total viewership was down to 3.8 million from last week’s 4.01 million.

It is also important to note that in week 3 the show gained a significant increase in rating due to DVR services. Tybythenumbers.com reported a 92% increase from a 1.2 live+SD to a 2.3 in live+7. NBC can only hope for this to happen each week.

The Muppets Post #8 – Jamie Zaslav

The Muppets came back to their normal 8pm slot on Tuesday nights at ABC after a week off to air “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”, which drew a 2.0 rating. The Muppets did a bit worse than the Peanut special, only garnering a 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. I personally credit this slight drop in ratings to taking a week off the air.

The episode titled, “Walk the Swine”, is about Miss Piggy and Reese Witherspoon’s feud over an Oscar Witherspoon won for the “Walk the Line” role she got instead of Piggy. When the two volunteer together for Habitat for Humanity, their feud escalates to a whole new level. Kermit asks Up Late with Miss Piggy guest Reese Witherspoon not to mention her Oscar on the show, because Miss Piggy is still upset about it. Kermit’s request is ignored, because Miss Piggy brings up Reese’s Oscar immediately. Piggy is still holding a grudge against Reese, and when the actress brings up her charity work with Habitat for Humanity, Piggy volunteers too. She’s definitely not going to be one-upped by Reese Witherspoon. The episode had a bevy of guest stars and was one of the best episodes yet in my opinion.

Minority Report- Post #8 New Relationships are Forming

Talk of Minority Report has started to die down again. The only thing that people have to say about it lately is to question whether or not the show is going to get canceled. This week the ratings pretty much plateaued again at .6/2.

This week the show started to take a new turn. This week focused more on the sister, Agatha’s life. The crime takes place in her home as opposed to in the big city. This seems strange to me because the show is starting to form new relationships even though they know the show is most likely getting canceled. Agatha is bonding with Laura Vega, the main cop, relationships are forming back in the city and alliances are being made. This episode does however start to unravel the season long mystery of whether or not the 3 siblings are safe from a new milk-bath or not. There are only 4 episodes left to find out.

There’s always the possibility that Netflix or another online site might pick up this show to continue it, but I don’t think that will be the case because the show is very predictable and there isn’t much character development.

Scream Queens – Post #8

For those anxiously awaiting the next episode of Scream Queens like myself, we will unfortunately have to wait one more week to see how the comedic show will continue on. FOX will instead air the MLB World Series this week, taking much deserved precedence over all other programming. Had FOX not been the station covering the game, I wonder how ratings would have fared out for Scream Queens as it sways towards a younger female audience. With that, will other shows be heavily impacted by viewers instead tuning in to watch the Mets and Royals duke it out in the best of 7 game series?

Next week’s episode of Scream Queens will guest star Tavi Gevinson and be centralized around a funeral for an unknown character. Promos will be featured during this week’s series to gain anticipation and hopefully boost ratings up as a result. Also, FX is planning a Halloween night marathon of the first six episodes, so for those who are a bit behind I highly suggest you take this week to catch up. Enjoy!

Limitless- Post #8

Limitless has been doing extremely well this past week. Last week, a full season has been ordered by CBS for 22 episodes. According to the article on Broadcasting Cable, Limitless averaged a 2.4 rating among 18-49 year olds and 11.4 million viewers.

Limitless’ rating’s last week from episode 5 yielded a 1.3 rating and an audience of 7.85 million people. This is slightly lower than episode 4 which had a 1.4 rating and 8.1 million viewers. Despite this slight decline, I am very surprised at how consistent Limitless’ rating and viewers are.  The show has not experienced any major decline in numbers and continues to attract the same audience quantity. Because of this, Limitless has gotten a lot of praise from CBS executives. CBS Entertainment president, Glenn Geller, stated that, “We’re excited how Limitless continues to evolve creatively each week and stand out with its unique style of storytelling…It’s off to a strong start in a highly competitive environment.”

Also, another Bradley Cooper cameo is expected to occur in episode 6, airing tonight, resulting in the potential of a ratings boost.

Rosewood Post #8

It’s looking like Fox has full faith in comedy drama series “Rosewood.” They have just announced that they are giving the medical series a full season order. The series averages a 2.4 rating among A18-49 and 7.8 million viewers in Live+3 estimates. Fox entertainment president David Madden is quoted saying, “Rosewood has proven to be a real self-starter for us, which is a tremendous feat on this highly competitive night.” This makes “Rosewood” the first freshman series to get a full season order from the network, and brings the season to a full 22-episode per season. However, the series’ viewership has still dropped significantly since the premiere September 23rd. According to Deadline, viewership increases in the second half hour of the show. Viewers are tuning in to get ready to watch Fox’s powerhouse “Empire”. Ratings for “Rosewood” build about 27%-29% from the first to the second half hour. It will be interesting to see if the full season order will help “Rosewood” gain momentum and stand on its on without the help of “Empire”.

The Muppets Post #7 – Jamie Zaslav

The Muppets was replaced in it’s normal 8pm Tuesday time slot by the annual airing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”, which drew a 2.0 rating, which is well above what The Muppets got last week in the ratings. The classic Peanuts special has been running since 1966.

The show has definitely passed the four-episode test, and despite not airing last night, the fifth episode will see the light of day next week. I do think that ABC is going to take a long hard look at what to do with the show. It hasn’t been performing as greatly as anticipated and hasn’t been hitting the demographic it is aimed at.

Week 7 Best Time Ever with NPH

Media Post blog begins with, “What does a guy have to do to get a rating around here?” Neil Patrick Harris in their mind seems to be exasperated by the amount of time and effort he seems to be putting into his show in ever possible capacity. While participating in fire-eating performance, while continuing to sing and dance like a monkey. And yet, the show has mediocre ratings that no one is mentioning at all. Last night was the sixth episode and at its new time of 8 p.m. Eastern, the ratings seem to have settled in at around 4.5 million viewers per show. The weeks previously, viewership was 4.45 million on Oct. 6, for the show’s fourth episode –which was the last one airing at 10 p.m. Eastern. The next week on Oct. 13, the show began airing at 8 p.m. and drew about the same audience — 4.48 million, to be exact. In the demo (18-49), the show scored a 1.3 on Oct. 6 and a 1.2 on Oct. 13. In comparison, the show’s premiere on Sept. 15 drew 6.6 million viewers and an 18-49 rating of 1.8. In its second week on Sept. 22, viewership dropped to 5.91 million, but the demo rating went up to 2.1. And now its audience is remaining in the mid-4 millions. Maybe NBC and NPH are just warming up especially with the new time slot but cmon,  What’s a guy have to do to get a rating? That we still have yet to discover.

Heroes Reborn Post #7

Ratings Plummet

Heroes Reborn aired its fifth episode of the season last week. The episode titled “The Lion’s Den” continued the steady four week decline in ratings for the show. The episode earned a mere 1.1 rating, down from 1.2 the previous week. However, the show was pretty average in terms of its competitors such as Bones which received a 1.1, as well, and Vampire Diaries which received a 0.6. The show’s main competition, Grey’s Anatomy and Thursday Night Football pregame only received 2.3 and 2.0 ratings, respectively. Heroes Reborn was relatively average for the 8pm broadcast time spot. These low ratings for broadcast may be due to viewers attracted to cable programs such as the MLB Championship Series games on TBSC which also aired on Thursday night at 8pm and ranked #12 in “TV By the Numbers” top 25 cable programs.

Many also see the cause of this downfall to be the show’s content. Reviews have stated the show is simply not good enough to retain an audience with so many better options to chose from. Likely, the remaining viewers are the true Heroes fans, thankful for the revival of a beloved show.

Though Heroes Reborn has been showing a consistent decrease in ratings, reports of NBC canceling the mini-series have not surfaced. It is expected that the network will let the show play out for the remaining eight episodes.

Minority Report- Post #7 How will it end?

This week the ratings for Minority Report continued to drop to a .6/2, but this time only 1 point down as opposed to 2 like in the past. I sadly think this season is going to be a lost cause for the series. There was not enough advertising done for this show from the start because I’m assuming that the Network was banking on the fact that the series is based off of a Tom Cruise/ Spielberg Film and would have a loyal fan base from 2002. This however has not been the case because the show has not been doing well at all.

Since the show will most likely not be continuing after this season, I am curious to see how much the show will unravel and if the pace of the show will speed up in order to have a series finale for episode 10. The show has only just premiered episode 5 as of last night.
